“It takes a poet to understand…”

The following translation was suggested by DeWitt Brinson, one of our regional editors, who had this to say about the poet and her poem.

“Death and Daddy issues. Most of her life was in the grip of father communism. Anyone would reach for a knife. It takes a killer to truly understand a weapon. It takes a poet to understand just how many things there are to kill.”

Ruxandra Cesereanu’s “Knife” translated from the Romanian by Adam J. Sorkin and Claudia Litvinchievici

“Careful Observation”

Christopher Heyworth, one of our regional editors, made the following comment when he suggested this poem

“I did warn you that I am a sucker for careful observation, and simple storytelling.”

Double

Is it more than coincidence that we’ve twice featured a poem related to David Lynch since this website began about six months ago? Well, maybe.

You might be in for a greater variety of work in the future. We’ve about 20 regional editors who will do the important and creative job of suggesting new poems. Thank you to all who’ve agreed to do this.

Back to this brave poem wherein the theme might be:  Life as movie.

Paul Piatkowski’s “The Full Lynching”
