Since we’ve been reading New Zealand poetry, we find the laid-back style of most of the work a welcome feature. It manages to be both unaffected and often sardonic. Though in this poem, both these qualities are subsumed by a simple yet unsentimental mystery in trying to consider even a beautiful day.
