Familial and Unfamiliar

So much seem manufactured in contemporary poetry, resulting in no real connection, a falsity of expression, and shallowness in general. Even when a poem supposedly deals with familial and unfamiliar emotions, something in it fails.

It is a great relief to find and read two wonderfully complicated, subtly moving poems on the subject of fathers.

Carol Ann Davis’ “Care”

Darren Morris’ “Salt”
